About Me
I'm a long time yoga practitioner that took up teaching; finishing a year-long teacher training program at HeartSong Yoga in 2011, followed by a weekly, 10 month mentoring program focused on Gentle Yoga. In addition to my teacher training, I've participated in multiple educational experiences to grow my ability to teach and understand yoga. These experiences covered topics such as - the back, sacrum, pelvis, hips, wrists/hands, stress, the Chakras, the Yoga Sutras, Senior Yoga, and Gentle Chair Yoga.
My goal was and is to work with older adults and others with physical challenges that would preclude a more vigorous style of yoga. My approach to yoga starts where the student is and incorporates a range of practices to address the whole person (body, mind, spirit) - breath work, meditation, chanting/mantra, and mudras.
My approach to the physical practice of yoga is somewhat eclectic but mainly draws from Hatha and Viniyoga style yoga. I'm interested in helping students find their alignment and ease in poses and to deepen their connection to the inner teacher. I also enjoy augmenting the physical practice of yoga with breath work (pranayama), mudras (healing hand gestures), and chanting/mantra.
